Sharmila ko gussa kyun aaya? Some of the famous moments of Hollywood captured in the reels of history were doled out and displayed as a part of a the special screening at this exhibition which left everyone a bit nostalgic.
Sharmila Tagore was well on time to inaugurate the show. A self-confessed art fanatic, she took time to appreciate the pictures closely and converse with the guests at the do.
However, when someone asked her which picture is her favourite, she retorted, “Can you tell me which one is your favourite? Asking to pick any one is literally asking to insult all the other photographers whose work is on display. How can I tell you which one is my favourite? I like all of them.”
No takers for Bollywood: Sharmila later said, “I wish people would come up with a Bollywood exhibition on similar lines. We have such beautiful pictures of actors, capturing their wonderful moments – right from Madhubala to Madhuri Dixit; it would be nice if a Bollywood exhibition is held too.” Tara Sabharwal, an artist from New York, said, “This collection is more about how the picture is literally talking to you! The person in the frame could have been anybody, it’s more about the connection that the viewer strikes with the picture.”
Around the World in 80 reels: Shivani Gupta, the host of the exhibition, said, “When we were approached for holding such an exhibition, we liked the idea and agreed to work on it. These famous photographs would travel to other cities, such as Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai too. Many such exhibitions, albeit with different pictures, will be conducted in all other parts of the world too, and we are glad to be a part of this wonderful project.”
